If, like most parents, you are still struggling to crack the athletic code when it comes to your children (How much is too much? Should we be doing more? Why? At what cost?), then you won’t want to miss the next Foundations of Education Series lecture, “Getting the Most Out of Sports,” on Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 10am.
Dr. Richard Ginsburg, author of “Whose Game is it Anyway?†and Harvard faculty member, will share his perspective from years of research in the field of athletics and as a sports psychologist to many of Harvard’s athletic teams. Dr. Ginsburg will also share insights from his book, which explores the physical, psychological, and emotional issues that are related to children’s involvement in athletics, and clarifies what parents can expect from kids at every stage. His writing delves into a number of related topics such as parental pressure, winning and losing, and the overscheduled child, much of which he’ll touch upon in his lecture and the Q&A session that follows.
As with all Foundations of Education Series lectures, Dr. Ginsburg’s presentation is free and open to the public and will be held in the Lower Campus Sky Room. Please feel free to invite any friends, colleagues, or coaches who you think might benefit from the discussion.
