It’s National Foster Care Month
With the need for foster parents, the Westchester County Department of Social Services along with its partners, Family Ties of Westchester and United Way’s 2-1-1, are encouraging residents to consider taking in a foster child.
Foster care is a safe place for a child who temporarily cannot live with his/her family. Children enter foster care for many different reasons and remain in foster homes for varying lengths of time. Foster care helps children to continue to thrive by providing stability, affection, consistency, and nurturing home. Foster parenting is a rewarding experience, whether the placement is a just a few days or several months.
Family Ties of Westchester, United Way of Putnam and Westchester, and the Department of Social Services for Westchester County have joined together to present R-TECS (Recruitment, Training, Ecuation, Certification, and Support) for potential foster parents.
