On Sunday, June 5th Pound Ridgers are coming together to celebrate Pound Ridge Pride.
We would like to extend a warm welcome and invitation to all the residents of Pound Ridge to join us and support our community in this special celebration of our wonderful town. Pound Ridge Pride is an opportunity for businesses, community organizations, and residents of all ages to come together for a day of unity, community service, and fun.
The day will kick off with Beautification efforts, from noon to 2pm. Volunteer groups will be weeding, planting, painting and cleaning signs; to spruce up the Business District.
An all town Block Party will follow from 2-5pm on Westchester Avenue, which will be blocked off from traffic while the festivities take place.
Everyone is invited to enjoy the Block Party that will include a country barbecue, hosted by Scott’s Corner Market and the Police Benevolent Association, live music by The Subourbans, while exploring , for example: wine-tasting, beer tasting and even salad dressing tasting! . We hope some of you will also participate in the pie-eating contest or purchase a yummy treat from the Girl Scout Bake Sale.
From frozen treats served out of an old-fashion ice cream truck, to marshmallow roasting at the Farmers Market, to a jumpy castle, tattoos, hula-hoop contests and more, the kids of Pound Ridge will have plenty to enjoy.
Many community organizations will be on hand to share what they are up to and explain how one can get incolved such as The Girl Scouts, The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy, and the Pound Ridge Police Department. You can even order your copy of Pound Ridge Past: Remembrances of our Townsfolk.
Many local businesses will be staying open later on that day to encourage residents to come in and see their latest, like the unique plants in shops like Topiary or the outdoor summer selection at Chubby’s, for example. Or you can munch your way down Westchester Avenue at the various eateries that will be open.
Since this is our first annual Pound Ridge Pride, we encourage Pound Ridgers who might still want to participate, to contact us.
So mark your calendar and come on into town the afternoon of Sunday, June 5th and join us in celebrating the town we love through Pound Ridge Pride.
