Kindergarten Day at Pound Ridge Library

Preschoolers who will start kindergarten in the fall experienced the excitement of receiving their first library card today.  The children enjoyed doing a craft of a school picture frame and colored with some of their soon-to-be classmates.   Three  stories were read to them by the Children’s Librarian, Alan Ramsay while enjoying icepops.  They each received their new library cards and checked out numerous books for the first time.

The Children’s Room at the Pound Ridge Library has a long tradition of serving children in the community and encouraging a love of books and learning.  A wide variety of children’s programs and special events are offered throughout the year.  The children’s collection, overseen by a full-time Children’s Librarian, is housed in a welcoming room with child-friendly bookshelves, cushions, chairs and tables.   The collection includes picture books, fiction, nonfiction, reference books, movies, documentaries and music.  A computer is reserved for use by children only in the Children’s Room.  Click here for more on children at the Pound Ridge Library
