All Aboard with Bill Probert and Friends II
Bill Probert, everyone’s favorite stationmaster, has made a much-anticipated return to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s galleries, just in time for the holidays with his LEGO® train exhibition, All Aboard with Bill Probert and Friends II.
In 2008, Bill was a key participant in Architecture of the Imagination: The Lure of the LEGO® Brick, the Museum’s best attended exhibition ever. Visitors came again and again, to see Probert’s evolving Trainscape. Flowers bloomed, buildings disappeared or appeared overnight, and monkeys dangled from cranes…something new was always going on!
Bill Probert has a fervent imagination. He also loves trains. All he needed was a medium that allowed him to blend the two for endless creativity and fun. He found them in his favorite toy: the LEGO® plastic brick. Every single element in his creations is made with LEGO® parts.
In this exhibition, Bill will partner with members of NELUG (New England Lego Users Group) and I LUG NY (New York Tri-State Area Lego Users Group) to create a 365-square-feet display that will fill the Museum’s entire Leonhardt Gallery. Several trains will be running, in complex setting that will keep visitors wondering: “What will they think of next?”
Visions of Gingerbread III: The Sweetest Architects
A holiday tradition returns to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center with the 3rd Annual Visions of Gingerbread III: The Sweetest Architects exhibition.
Come see some creative confections, completely consisting of edible materials from the area’s finest chefs and caterers. Witness the extraordinary creations from returning favorites, along with some new competitors showing off their gingerbread skills.
The creations will be juried by a panel of special guest judges at the Member’s Preview & Opening Reception on November 11, awarding first,
second and third place winners. Visitors will be able to vote for their “Fan Favorite” both at the Museum and through an online poll.
Visit SM&NC to vote for your favorite, and check back to see who won.
