Inspired by their passion for the arts and community spirit, a staff of volunteers produce the SoNo Arts Celebration and work throughout the year on various committees.

Every year the annual SoNo Arts Celebration enlivens the streets of the historic, waterfront district of South Norwalk (SoNo), CT the first weekend of August. The Arts Celebration is host to 15,000 attendees, primarily from New England and the NY metro area.

Inspired by their passion for the arts and community spirit, a staff of volunteers produce the SoNo Arts Celebration and work throughout the year on various committees.

The SoNo Arts Celebration is a weekend-long celebration of the arts that happens annually the first weekend in August on the streets of Historic South Norwalk, CT since 1976.

The SoNo Arts Celebration, is an independent, not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization that is made up of talented and dedicated people who have a passion for the arts and community service. Once a year, on the first full weekend in August, the streets of South Norwalk (SoNo), CT are closed down to bring together people from all over Conn & NY to celebrate the arts.

The SoNo Arts Celebration will feature approximately 150 juried exhibiting fine artists & craftspersons. Each artist will submit slides of their work and display booth, and is judged in one of 10 categories: painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, wood, ceramics, jewelry/metalsmithing, fiber, mixed media or glass. Artists will be selected based on the quality and originality of their work and how they display it.

More than 25 performing artists, groups & troupes will entertain on three stages throughout the weekend of the Arts Celebration. True to our mission, acts are selected for their diversity, performance art and we strive to present a diverse & eclectic array of genres. In addition to stage performers, there are musicians and children’s entertainers in the streets throughout the event.

At the SoNo Arts Celebration children are artists too! Bring your kids to the Children’s Art Playground and give them a chance to express their natural creativity as they work on their very own masterpieces. All of the projects are free and you get to keep the art. Children can also paint our Children’s Art Playground Murals.

The South Norwalk Arts Celebration, Inc., the producing body of the SoNo Arts Celebration, is a federally designated 501(c) 3, non-profit corporation based in South Norwalk, CT. As an educational/cultural organization, its mission sets forth a clear agenda:

  • To develop and expand a clear appreciation of the Arts
  • To present an annual two-day celebration of the Arts consisting of an outdoor exhibit offering a diverse cross section of professional visual and performing artists, subsequent workshops for adults and children, and an on-going foundation in support of the Arts
  • To utilize and showcase talent from the local community and beyond
  • To obtain necessary funding to realize the primary intent of the organization
