The Avon Theatre is proud to present a special screening of American Graffiti (1973), a movie dedicated to teenage life in the early 60s. This blast from the past film will be shown on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie. A reception hosted by Lucky’s Classic Burger & Malt Shop will begin at 6:00 PM at the Avon with a costume contest and prizes prior to the screening at 7:30 PM. Patrons are encouraged to wear their best race car and drive-in movie attire. Leather jackets, big hair or gelled hair, or even roller skates! Prizes await the ones who are most in touch with their inner greaser. Music from the movie soundtrack will be featured during the reception. Come celebrate the spirit of the 60s.
The Avon will be showing the original 1973 version of American Graffiti with outstanding performances from Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Wolfman Jack, Candy Clark, and many other familiar faces. American Graffiti is a nostalgic look at George Lucas’ teenage years. It takes place on a summer evening in 1962 when two high school graduates, Curt and Steve, spend the night out in town where they drag race, go to drive-ins, and contemplate major life decisions involving college and their girlfriends. Both funny and poignant, American Graffiti celebrates the past generation through its terrific cast and expansive rock n’ roll soundtrack. Running time is 110 minutes.
Tickets: Non-Members: $15, Avon Members: $10; and Avon Carte Blanche members: Free. To purchase tickets, please call the Avon Greenwich Office at 203-661-0321 during business hours or the Avon Box Office during show times at 203-967-3660.
