WHAT: WeeZee – The Science of Play, Westchester County’s only sensory gym, an 18,000 square foot play, fitness and learning facility for children ages 1-12, located in Chappaqua, NY, has announced its spring 2015 line-up of engaging classes for preschoolers and after school classes for kids ages 5 – 12. With guest instructors representing some of the region’s most notable experts, the new classes start at $100 per six-week session and run from May 11-June 22. Transportation from many local schools is available at an additional charge, and includes snack and homework help.
Registration for classes is open to WeeZee members and non-members alike.
PRESCHOOL CLASSES:
Super Science Club (for kids ages 3 – 5, *must be potty trained)
Tuesdays, 10-10:45am, with Jessica
Did you know that art can be scientific and science can be artistic? Here at the Club we do! And we love performing experiments to prove it. Your preschooler will simultaneously create artistic masterpieces and perform classic science experiments in this drop-off class!
Music and Movement (for parents and kids Ages 0-3)
Wednesdays 1-1:30pm with Stephanie
A 30-minute music class providing the perfect amount of structured activities where children explore music, build physical coordination, and stimulate the senses, all while having fun!
AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES:
Selfie! Storybook Workshop (for kids ages 5-12)
Mondays 4:30-5:15pm, with Author Laura Nadler Scott
Each week kids get to draw and write all about themselves, which will culminate in a small bound author biography at the end of the course! Each week will bring a new topic, such as “my family,†“favorite foods,†“life at school,†and “favorite activities.†Step-by-step guidance is provided, as well as all materials.
Bricks 4 Kidz (for kids ages 5-12)
Tuesdays 4:30-5:15pm, with Marj Santos
LEGO® building…too FUN to be homework! Your child’s learning doesn’t need to stop when the bell rings. While exploring S.T.E.M. concepts (science, technology, engineering, math) and with the use of LEGO® bricks and our Bricks 4 Kidz® plans, students learn to build moving and motorized structures of simple machines, weather, space, vehicles, animals, and more. They develop problem solving skills, creativity, and foster an appreciation for how things work.
Cooking Around the World (for kids ages 5-8)
Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15pm, with Sharon NDiaye
“Cooking around the World†is an opportunity for small chefs to become acquainted with new cuisines as well as learning a bit of geography and different cultures. The children will do all of food preparation and use common kitchen tools in this “hands-on†class, and come away with greater confidence in cooking and eating new foods. We use no nuts in the recipes, and we are conscious of accommodating allergies.
Super Science Club (for kids ages 5-12)
Thursdays 4:30-5:15pm
This wild and wacky (drop-off) class will introduce your emerging scientist to the wonders of chemical reactions, experiments, and basic scientific concepts!
Latin Dance Fitness (for kids ages 5-12)
Fridays 4:30-5:15pm with Stephanie
Join the party with this fun and exciting high-energy class! With kid-friendly routines this class is a great place to socialize and have fun!
Little Makers (for kids ages 7-12)
Fridays 4:30-5:15pm with Coach Emily
Teaching children to view the world with an inventive and innovative attitude- through DIY crafts, robotics and computer coding.
