In 1992 Patricia and Nolan West created and established Longford’s Own-Made Ice Cream in Westchester County, where they made the ice cream in the back of the store. Recognizing the demand for premium ice cream within other food service industries, they moved the parlor down the road to the city of Rye, NY and set up ice cream production in a 3,500 square foot kitchen in Port Chester, which remains the hub of the Longford’s business to this day.
Longford’s is not sold in commercial supermarkets. From the beginning, the business plan revolved around their ice cream shops and country clubs and supplying to specialty markets and cafes. The bulk of the business catapulted when the hospitality industry took notice of this quirky little ice cream company that made a truly superlative product.
